We are so glad you found us!

We are committed to being a memorable and comfortable part of your stay in exotic Belize. Here are some hotel-specific questions frequently asked by our guests, about their stay with us…

What are the cancellation and prepayment policies?

  • We require a one-night deposit payment at booking. The balance is due at check in.

  • Your deposit payment is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to check in, less a 5% fee for credit card and administrative fees. If you cancel 30 days or less before check in, please note your payment is nonrefundable. Refunds are processed in USD and will reflect the exchange rate day refund is processed.

  • For cancellations within 30 days of check in - we recommend you purchase travel insurance in case of travel delays, bad weather/natural disaster/pandemic events in your area, personal illness/death in family, or personal situation preventing your travel. While we provide refunds for stays more than 30 days before check in, events causing cancellations within 30 days are non-refundable; these may be claimed under your travel insurance. No shows, deposit is forfeited and non refundable. We will assist with documentation requested from our hotel for your claim.

  • Click HERE for our inclement weather/natural disaster/pandemic event policy should an occurrence prevent travel to Belize.

  • Please note that if refund to credit card is requested more than six months past the transaction date, there are certain credit cards that will not accept a direct refund and refund will be issued via PayPal internationally. PayPal is a safe and easy account to set up for international refunds.

  • Before arrival, we will send any final invoice, and answer any questions you may have. We will also get your arrival information, as we provide complimentary airport pick up at the Ambergris Caye water taxi or airport. Check in is 3pm but we will make every effort to have your suite ready at arrival. Check out is at 11am. We can arrange to hold luggage at check in/out and you are welcome to use our outdoor amenities.

  • Please click HERE for PUR hotel policy for renting out the entire hotel, as well as our Service or Emotional Support Animal Policies (scroll to 2nd section).

  • No unregistered/outside guests are permitted overnight in suites. Each suite has a max capacity of 2. This is for the safety and security of all guests on site, as well as hotel property. No bike use by outside guests at PUR, but the pool area is open to the public until 10pm.

  • PLEASE NOTE - This is an adults-only (18 and over) hotel - should guests arrive with anyone in the party under 18, or with more than 2 guests per suite, we will assist your party in finding other arrangements outside PUR.

How far are you from the beach?

If it is your first time on the island (the 2013 & 2014 #1 island in the world - rated by TripAdvisor!) - please note - the water in San Pedro is some of the prettiest water in the world, with perfect white sand, but much of the beachfront is seawalled or has boat docks. Because we are close to the reef, there can be seagrass that washes in. There are few swimmable beaches on the island. However - the swimmable beaches we have - are gorgeous. The #1 place to have a beach day is called Secret Beach - it is an incredible experience. We are conveniently located between town (about a 10 minute ride) and Secret Beach (about a 30 minute ride). You can get there with a hearty bike ride or rent a golf cart for a better experience.

All beaches in Belize are public, so you are welcome to walk freely on all the beachfront. Although many resorts are located on the beach, they are not for swimming except where listed below. We are a short bike ride away from "Boca Del Rio", where you can experience the busy, crazy town of San Pedro - and then have a quick return to the safe, quiet, tranquil - but still tons of fun! - area of town north of the bridge (we are less than a mile from the bridge into San Pedro town.)

Here are the popular spots to swim:
--You can walk right to the shore, steps away, from PUR, and walk the beautiful, picturesque beach front.
--We recommend swinging over the water and playing in the sea at Dive Bar, just down the road, south, or swimming off the dock at Rum Dog or Ak’bol, just steps away down the shore, north.
--Head to Boca Del Rio to Sandy Toes to sit on the shore, or Palapa Bar to swim in the tubes on the sea .
--For a full beach day experience - especially if there is sea grass on the Caribbean side - we highly recommend going to Secret Beach for a day - because this is technically the "lagoon side" there will be no grass here, and this is a very fun day trip. You can walk out in the waist-deep water as far as you can see, and it is an incredible experience! We are conveniently located between the heart of town and Secret Beach. We are one of the best spots because you can get to Secret Beach, heart of town, but be centered in the heart of it all!

Where is a good place for yoga?

Just a short bike ride or walk away is Ak’bol Yoga - fantastic yoga over the sea, under a palapa! This is usually 9am Monday to Saturday and 10am on Sundays - always good to double check times for holidays etc.

What is the best cabana for me to book?

We have several options based on personal preference. We recommend Jaguar for a king bed and small kitchen area - this is our largest cabana. Those who like a front row seat to the fun love this cabana, because you have a front row seat to the action at the pool. Eagle Ray is a guest favorite for the private mini pool and outdoor shower; this is a great choice for your most special occasions - this also has a king bed. For those who want to be a short distance away from the action, our 4 king cabanas are set away a bit from the pool area. All cabanas have a king bed, and a hammock on your private veranda, with seating.

Are outside guests allowed at the bar and pool?

We are committed to maintaining a social yet relaxing atmosphere at PUR - we have a limited number of tables to keep the busy-ness to a minimum, while still allowing for a small crowd to provide the energy that makes PUR so much fun - our guests love meeting people from all over the island and all over the world. The action shuts down at 9pm at the restaurant and 10pm for the bar so you are assured of a tranquil evening.

Can I walk to anything from PUR?

With our complimentary bikes, you can see most of the island, or rent a golf cart for an even more expansive exploration. You can walk to yoga at Ak’bol, have great fun at Truck Stop or Croc’s, which are two of the hottest bar/restaurants on the island. Just a bit farther away you’ll find Marbucks, Rain, Coco’s Loco, Pirate’s Treasure, Aji Tapas (our favorite place), Rum Dog, and more. We are located in a tranquil patch of jungle-like foliage that gives an exotic, special, boutique experience.

How much does it cost to rent a golf cart?

The price ranges based on time of year, new-ness of the cart, and what is included. We offer new, nice carts, competitive prices, and can even do less than 24 hour rentals right on site, or discounted rates for multiple days. We rent them right on site so you can decide when you arrive.

Is it better to stay in town or north of the bridge?

Some people prefer to be in town, where it is possible to walk to all the fun energy. Some people find the energy in downtown San Pedro to be a bit much full-time, so they enjoy the respite north of the bridge which is just a short ride away. We have two condos in town that have been reviewed as a wonderful experience by past guests, you can book these by emailing us at info@purboutiquecabanas.com.

Do I have to book tours myself or will PUR do this for me?

We would be happy to book your tours; we have a great concierge desk right on site. You do not need to book before you come, unless you are doing a very specific or unusual trip, or a very popular one like Island Dream Tours. We recommend booking those unique ones beforehand, and most can be done online.

Do you have an all-inclusive package?

We don’t offer an all-inclusive meal package, because we feel guests have the best experience when they sample the range of amazing local, authentic Belizean food throughout the island. We love when guests dine with us, and we are proud to offer healthy, fresh, reasonably-priced breakfast/lunch/dinner daily, with vegetarian and low carb options. We offer complimentary coffee and water throughout your stay. Coffee is available steps away at the bar every morning, and we are committed to the environment so we try to reduce our use of single-use plastics. We offer reusable, refillable bottles for purified water that can be filled up as much as you like at the bar, and can be cooled in your beverage fridge in your room.
